I am Larry Meek owner of Carefree Home Watch and I recently used Jeff Pickard of JP Handy, LLC to help me with a very difficult problem-WOODPECKERS!! Yes, woodpeckers. I know that sounds a bit strange but here are the facts. Many beautiful homes are built will "styrofoam" ornamental fascias that appear to be stone but they are really just styrofoam cut and shaped into a particular form, like a "Corbel". These pieces really give a look of elegance to a home but when woodpeckers are in mating season this "styrofoam" architecture comes under attack by the male woodpecker who is trying to build nest for the female woodpeckers and they peck large holes into the styrofoam thinking that its a dead tree and an easy way to build a nest. Now, here's the rub...woodpeckers are on the endangered species list and once a female makes her nest you cannot disturb the nest until the eggs hatch and leave the nest. My client had 4-5 smaller sized holes and 3-4 larger sized holes that required repair before the female could set up house. I have another vendor that was supposed to make the repair but he was a no show after a three week wait. Jeff Pickard came the day after we spoke and made the necessary repairs in record time and even repainted the corbels to match. Jeff Pickard saved the day for me with my new client.
